Shortage of Honda bearings?
I am eagerly awaiting driving again but the machine shop says that NOONE has any honda bearings! And the next production time is middle September! This can't be true....or can it?
Does anyone know any place that carries Honda main bearings that I could call and get the facts myself?
Thank you,
J

Thanks. But I have heard alot of mixed stories on ACL with forced induction. Pretty much that they are no good. Most of the machine shops I have talked to say they would use honda bearings because of the clearance and some other things I didn't understand.
Maybe Rocket knows the low down on honda bearings on back order.

Good luck locating certain Honda bearings...I had a friend that called over 20 dealerships to find 2 bearings that they needed...get the ACL bearings from Rocket.

can you say national back order...too many ppl are building motors!!! get them on order from your dealer and give them the vin so they can put it on a CBO or critcal back order (car down). then call and complain to customer service...squeeky wheel gets the grease as they say.
Beautiful plan Dohcside. I love it. Guess that's all I can do.
I just needed the "National back order" confirmation so I can move to plan B. Being, squeeky wheel plan.
Thanks guys!
Plus, I'll be honest, I wouldn't use the ACL from what I have heard from SP in chicago, Darton's shop "Edgebrothers" in N.C., and Mothers here in Missouri.

I just orderd a full set of rod and main bearings for my ITR motor less then two weeks ago, and got them last friday.
I only needed greens and browns for the rods, but I needed 5 different colors for the mains. Of the top of my head. Green - Black - Brown - Yellow - Blue
I got them from Carland Acura http://www.acuraautomotiveparts.net/

They said American Honda wasn't ready for the demand. They are on back order with no release date. No luck. I think I'll have to wait untill September. Bummer.
Thanks for the info.

Thank you thank you thank you!!! You might have just saved me another month of waiting! Jeff had the bearings, (both red), and will be here Wednesday. So the following week it "should"(you know how that goes) be together!!! It's been to many months already!
Don't know how to thank you for the info!

i had almost no problems locating bearings for my b16, but i guess it helps to be good friends with the parts guy at a dealership... he finally found them somewhere in Atlanta but i know it is hard to find thembut its worth the wait for them cause the aftermarkt bearings are not of quality as the honda bearings ... HAPPY HUNTING!
Jeff, have you done any testing with the ACL bearings? I was against it... inquired, thought some more, thought maybe... then in this post people (as usual) are saying bad things about them... who has had a bad expirience?
I have no exp. with acl bearings.
But if Honda uses different sizes for normal applications, correct sizing is much more important for a performance motor.
I remember hearing about nascar motors using Honda bearings. Anyone else hear this or know where I can find some info on it.
