I use a Simpson Voyager, best peripheral vision of 5-6 different styles and brands I tried. May not look as cool as the bandit or others, but it's SO comfy.

In the end it's what will fit YOU though, Behrents.com has all of them as well.

I have the Simpson Diamondback and I like it but the part in the middle that comes up over your nose pretty much blocks any chance at seeing the dash without looking down. My shift light is about 4" up off the top of my dash so it's in my line of sight and not blocked by the helmet.

Some people say, you cant put a price on your head... But I just got the most inexpensive Snell approved helmet I could find. Check with your track tech and ask what they are looking for... I know there alot of SFI/snell/DOT certs.. etc...

I know exactly what you mean........safety should be first. I need something that will comply with the "General" rules of most tracks, without breaking the bank. Maybe something in the $400.00 range ?

I've got the Simpson Super Bandit. It doesn't block my vision at all. Then again, it doesn't have the same nose piece that the Diamondback has.

Can't go wrong with any Simpson or Impact helmet though.

Found this information from the NHRA Rule Book

10:7 HELMETS
As outlined under Class Requirements, drivers in all classes must
wear a helmet meeting Snell or SFI Specifications. Snell K98 is
acceptable in place of any Snell M-rated helmet.

SFI Spec 31.1A = Snell SA, open-face helmet
SFI Spec 31.2A = Snell SA, full-face helmet
SFI Spec 41.1A = Snell M, open-face helmet
SFI Spec 41.2A = Snell M, full-face helmet

Drivers of all cars running 13.99 or quicker must use a helmet
meeting Snell K98, 2000, 2005 or SFI Spec 31.1A, 31.2A,
31.1/2005, 41.1A, 41.2A, or 41.1/2005.

Effective Jan. 1, 2008, full-face helmet mandatory for drivers of all
cars 9.99 or quicker. Goggles prohibited; visor mandatory. See
Class Requirements for additional requirements.

Drivers of cars running 7.49 or quicker must use a helmet meeting
Snell SA2000, SA2005 or SFI 31.1A, 31.2A, or 31.1/2005 Specs.
