Default Rallying a GS-R.

Well, I just went out last weekend with a bunch of Impreza guys to El Mirage to do some rallying. It was very fun. It kinda show me that FWD can rally too. We set up a course with cones. Kinda like autoX but on dirt. My time were pretty similar to the impreza guys. Maybe 1 or 2 sec. behind. Here's some pix:

Looks like fun! Way to get the car dirty.

How did the car react to dirt?

It was definitely fun. In most ways, it's better than AutoX cuz I didn't have to wait very long, it's free, and i got lots of runs.
The car react to dirt quite well actually. Definitely not like an Impreza or any other cars that has lots of lowend tq, but it wasn't that bad. through out the whole course, i was in the upper range of 1st gear anyways, so VTEC helped. My suspension is 7 years old so it's on the soft side but the way was quite predictable and controlable... I actually did a 450 degree spin, and it was very scary but fun at the same time... hehe.

go here for more pix:

We also did a few top speed run afterward too. There was a RSX-S there and i was even w/ him from stop to 140MPH, both with one passenger. the WRX that was there passed us both at about 100MPH to 140MPH. He topped out at about 140MPH too so he stopped pulling.

nice pics and that looks like alot of fun. So, was the surface pretty smooth and rock hard or was it like sand? Wish I could have gone.

Nah, we didn't get hastled. He was cool, he just asked what were were going to do there and tell us to stay in certain areas. He seems quite interested. I don't think it's a police though, it's more of a park ranger type of person.

The surface varies, there's an area for drag and top speed test. That area the surface is quite compacted and the sand is very fine. The area where we did the rallying, the sand is thicker but not too thick. The ground itself is pretty hard with quite a few bumps and dips.

*shrug* I don't really care about the exterior all that much so it doesn't matter to me. But after that session, my paint is still in good shape, it washes right off.
