IHRA Nat's @ Norwalk Raceway Park: Questions from a drag ignorant person
Hi all... Not much of a drag racing enthusiast, but when invited to any motorsport event, I have a hard time turning it down. I went to Norwalk Raceway Park in Norwalk, OH Saturday night to witness my first drag race. Some questions for those familiar with the IHRA:
1) What is the difference between "Pro Stock" and "Pro Modified?" They both are obviously not "stock."
2) How many gallons of gas do top-fuelers run during a 4-second pass?
And a few observations: I used to think 13 seconds was fast... After watching the Funny Cars turn 5's and Top Fuels turn 4s, watching the Sportsmans' turn 10's seemed to be crawling. Also: The sound generated by Top Fuels has got to be one of the most ground-shaking sounds on earth, short of a nuclear detonation.
No imports at this event, I was disappointed to find, but a fun night nonetheless. Jet Trucks =

pro stock is usually all motor, like around 500 cubic inches, pro modifieds use like 750 cubic inches with either nitrous, or a blower, most of whitch are leaning toward the blown cars, kinda limited with nitrous, there is a few other classes with ihra also. street, sportsman, super pro, etc. someone let me know if i missed one these classes usually dont travel, the track locals. my favorite i have to say is the pro modified hope this gives you a little insight into ihra
