Default Honda Performance Development Question?

i want to gain access to all their tech and parts. but it says you have to be registered, i go to register and they said you gotta have records of your races and stuff. is there anyway i can register without being race ready. imean like i want to race eventually but right now my car is not capable.

If you dont race/autox there is no way to be apart of it.

And for autoXers their vehicle cant be street driven/registered, well same for road race its just much less likely that a RR car is registered and driven on the street.

You know the parts are just oem honda parts....

Hondapartdeal/majestic has really cheap pricing too.

I believe the program is pretty new so RIGHT NOW they're only allowing full blown race cars to be apart of it. The guy I had spoke to made it sound like they might allow street driven cars into it in the future.

If you are a member of a sanctioned racing body/organization and building a car intend to race you can become registered and purchase the parts you need.

But not if the car is driven on the street.

Did I say anything about street cars being eligible?

Racers applying for membership based on (b) [car under construction] must provide (i) a copy of Racer’s active membership card in SCCA, NASA, or Grand‐Am racing; (ii) documentation of the Acura or Honda type, engine and model year that Racer intends to race; (iii) the racing class in which Racer intends to compete; (iv) a completion date for the construction of the car; (v) the date of first race in which Racer intends to compete; and (vi) race results from the car’s first event within 30 days of its completion (results listed as DNS do not count). You agree to provide any documentation requested by HPD to substantiate any of the foregoing information.

That's quite correct, as per the Honda Racing Line Agreement:

2 (b) Program Parts may NOT be used on a street‐driven production Honda or Acura vehicles or other “street legal” vehicles;

I don't know if DB2-R81 is only referencing the initial participant requirements for someone who is currently building a car, but according to the "Special Conditions" it's specifically for race only cars.

I've already signed up, received all of my information, and had some interaction with HRL. As per Jimmy's post above, the pricing is similar to what you would see from a good amount of the online Honda/Acura retailers. I hope that there are some other tertiary benefits, because the pricing is what a good portion of us were already purchasing parts for.

but, but, what if you drive it to the track then race it? Like I did for >2 years!!

I suppose just shoot them an email if you have a special case.

I'm sure they are just trying to keep the majority of the hard parkers out.

If you are racing and competing or plan on doing so very soon, and can provide the aforementioned proof then it shouldnt be a problem

I just said it was less likely, not that it doesn't happen.

IMO they are doing this for 2 reasons.

1.) They want to keep the liability down, and selling to off road vehicles only limits that liability.

2.) they don't want to upset the parts department at dealers. Limiting it to off road vehicles only should certainly not upset the dealers too much.

Again if you are interested in the parts side of it, look into majestic/ect/ect/ect you will be good to go!!

At this point there isn't any information/secrete info/tech stuff. Maybe there will be, but at this point there isn't.
