timing off one tooth
im having a problem with my motor..a buddy and i are putting a new timing belt on and have realized that the timing is off by one tooth..im assuming this cannot be good..the crank and the cams are off..my question is am I able to replace the timing belt water pump tensioner with the alignment like this or do i have to get everything lined up correctly in order to do this can anyone guide me in the right direction..the setup is a b18a1 block
Have you done a timing belt on an integra before? Sometimes, it looks like it is off, but it isn't. Like the pointer on the crank pulley will be slightly below the pointer on the timing cover with the cam gears matched up. If it's off by a tooth, there will be a big difference between the timing cover pointer and the crank pulley indicator.
As long as you make sure it's as close to TDC as you can get it before changing the belt, you can always turn the cams with a wrench or turn the crank pulley to get it lined up for the new belt.
