Yet another engine choice thread.
Basically my bone stock 89 STD blew the rings. The car runs, smokes, no power.
What makes more sense?
Do a complete D16A6/ZC swap?
Rebuild the D15B2?
Use a D16 bottom end, if that's even possible?
I went to a few junkyards and only found a few D16Z6 and a carbed D15B2. Prices everywhere were $500, which seems outrageous to me.
I am NOT looking for performance, I just want this thing to move. Also found a few d16 bottom ends on a local forum, can I simply swap that d15 block for the d16?
Is there a reliability/cost trade off between any of these?
