i have a odd leak comeing form were my driver side axel enters my transmission.. its seems to be some sort of seal..if i remove the axel is there a way i can replace the seal...???

 

Yeh if you remiove the axel you can replace the seal, you should also change the MTF while your at it. If that doesnt work then you have internal tranny problems possibly the carrier bearing.

 

so if i remove the axel from the tranny...the seal will be located inside the tranny houseing..?? and i can remove it with out taking apart the tranny correct..?

 

Drain fluid.

Pull axle.

Remove seal.

Clean case.

Install new seal.

Install axle.

Full with fluid.

No more leak.

Seal sits in the case right on the other side of the axle. Round black part.

i have same problem . i brought my car in to honda dealer to get the axle seal done because i couldn't do it over and over it was about to blow my head off. so i brought it back to honda and got it done now i still have leak. they told me my half shaft could be bent.
so how do you check if you have good carrier bearing?

 

Listen for a knock or pull the axle seal and try to do a visual on it.

Won't know for sure though unless you split the trans open.

 

I just let the dealer fixed my right axle seal leak way back April and 6 months after I have the same problem. Will this be an every six months problems that I have to deal with? How long should an axle seal last anyway?

 

axle seal should last 250-300k miles.

 

I have the same problem please help. I changed my seal but maybe it was faulty.
