Default Anybody make a headlight scoop for an EF?

I've searched and searched but didn't find anything. Come on honda-tech, you never seize to amaze me!

Only thing I've even found that's close is a generic nacaduct from Pegasus.
I'm interested in trying to fab up something like a "ram air box" using the passenger headlight as the inlet. If there is a design that already exists out there that would be nice.

Thanks

I dont know of anyone that specifically sells them, but Ive made a few for relatively cheap. All I did was picked up a used light from a junk yard. Preheat your oven to about 350 and turn it off. place the light housing in the oven for 5-7 minutes until the butyl around the front lense gets soft. pry it off with a flathead. Then I cut out the back a bit to fit a 3in pvc pipe through to the intake. After that, stretch a piece of fleece over the entire outside of the light, glueing it to the perimeter of the front of the back of the housing and around the pvc opening. hit it with resin and maybe a layer or 2 of fiberglass matting. once its dry, cut out the hole from the inside of the pvc, sand it, hit it with some filler, sand again, and some krylon and youre set to go. Should cost you under 100, heck probably even 60

Check the drag race forum. It would be illegal for most of the popular sanctioned road racing classes.

Good to go in ITE-u (scca) as well...... and for SWMS (nasa) classes I'm pretty sure. Those are the two that I'm concerned with.

Thanks for the replys guys. I think I'm just gonna make one our of fiberglass and post up some pics.

Unfortunately the EF headlight uses two bulbs so the backing isn't ideal for a single hose inlet. It would work perfect for brake ducts though......

not if you build a box around it

6. Prohibited Items (H1-H5)
a) Nitrous Oxide Systems.
b) Forced Induction (turbochargers, superchargers, ram air, etc).
c) Dry Sump Engine Oiling Systems

One mans "ram air" box is another mans "cold air" box. How does the rulebook define a ram air box? Most have to incorporate a venturi, which mine would not have.

Its no biggy....just cut out the whole where you want the piping to go through and just fill the open spots just like you did on the front to make the scoop

i think we need to define ram air. i have seen some HC cars that have intake set-ups that could be considered 'ram air'

I think wiki has the definition covered, but basically if you increase the air pressure or reduce the vacuum in the manifold its a ram air.
