Dilema on which route to take.. could use some advice!
hey guys,
id like some more power ( or better 1/4 mile times) and cant decide on what to do. i have a few requests which i dont want , they are:
no forced induction: turbo, s/c , nitrous
only thing i would gut are my rear seats
no cams ( jun 3s, stage2 skunks, etc.) since i need reliability and i dont want to check my retainers or springs
i want to stay at the same compression as i am right now
those are my requests.
i was thinking of gettin jdm dc headers and a hondata tune or some skunk 2 stage 1s and keep my stock valvetrain. it seems i might be running rich so a tune might help. traction really isnt an issue right now.
what do you guys recommend? any thought , ideas are welcome !! thanks
sorry to be so picky but this is my daily driver for now. i searched the boards and couldnt find anything to answer my questions.
my car: 95 cx, jdm type r swap, cam gears, exhaust, intake, and little stuff ( ie. fuel pump, fpr, fuel rail)

ok maybe you didnt understand my question. i dont want opinions on CAMS! i want other ways of making power not opinions. try reading the post thoroughly before replying. if u dont have anything helpful to put , dont put it. jesus.
dont know what to tell ya. bolt ons can only go so far. next option is to tune your suspension. you'd be surprised how much that helps at the track
ok, maybe i did read read your question. you asked about upgrading your cams while keeping your stock valve train. every one of those threads pertains to upgrading your cams and keeping your stock valvetrain. you also said: i searched the boards and couldnt find anything to answer my questions.
well, i searched the boards and found all those threads on your very question. why don't you read the threads throughly or use the search thoroughly. satan.

with all ur basic bolt on s..dont expect more than a 10% increase in power..u might even lose some torque with header/exhaust upgrade

the way u answered my question with wtf?? and put all those links was very rude. I was just thinking about getting mild cams and i knew that i could do it with stock valvetrain, i was asking to see if it was worth it over the itr cams. im sick and tired of seeing ppl mauled at for asking a question. if u dont like repetitive questions then dont click on the link with my question! thanks

Well I got that out of the way. As they have said before. Bolt ons will only go so far.
if you are concerned about losing the reliability of your daily driven car, you really shouldn't. after all, it is a honda motor! i have a daily driven si with way too many miles on it (too ashamed to say since it is only a '00) just driving to work about 5 days a week, i put 60 miles on it a day, and thats just for work. thats not including driving to my girlfriends house that is 30 miles from my house. and then there is the weekend... well you get the picture. as far as upgrades, cams and valve-train are upgraded, head is milled for higher compression, a bit of fuel upgrades, and some other goodies. and you know what? i beat on the motor ALL DAY! you said you wanted some headers and the hondata. well that would be great but you wouldn't have too much to tune if you only have the two. trust me, you can do a lot to an all motor set-up and at the same time keeping it a reliable daily driven car!

lol.
do head work along with bigger cams, end of story, more power from the least money.... even though it will be alot of money, it will be easier/cheaper per HP.
or talk with http://www.importbuilders.com on building up a 2.0 liter bottom end.... that may solve your Torque issue, even if you are in denial

stop crying like a little bitch, throw some cams and a 40 shot of nitrous on your car and get the **** over it. jeeeeezus CHRIST stop acting like a ***.
i would think that after all that to a NA motor u can just put a blower in..JRSC s are made to fit right in with ur OEM parts..all ud need is an intake and uve got urself 40 extra HP without really having to mod ur motor..upgrading ur exhaust to 2 1/4" piping w/hiflow muffler will also work..throw in a header and ur all set for F & F fun..insult me and i think ur mommy should spank ur ***
If you dont want to go FI you have slim choices besides building up internals. You can go turbo and still have a dependable daily driver, ask half the people on this board... There are people with turbo on stock engines who have no problems, you just gotta run a semi low boost so you dont **** up your engine. Other than that the only other thing is nawz if you dont want to build your engine too much. But lots of people would suggest building your engine FOR nawz so you can take a stronger shot and it would increase dependability...
Don't be afraid of FI, FI is your friend

my god, what is wrong with you ppl, this is a ****** forum. Not a place to clown people. Damn computer bangers..
look man if u really want some more hp then get a jun stage 3 head for your motor.....it will help alot....i have seen what a difference it makes on that engine
