What is the best way to paint the shift **** (6spd) numbers red?

I would try a very fine tip brush with some model enamel paint. Or, if you have a fine tip Sharpie, that might work just as well.

there is a trick you can do with a red crayon that works perfectly for this, I bet if you search for it a bit you should find exactly how to do it

I guess it depends on the ****, lets say it's a metal ****, you could probably just paint the whole top of it, then sand it with a flat black to get rid of everything except whats in the indented numbers, then use a higer grit to get it back to a brushed metal look.

i used a toothpick and testors model paint. then just wiped over the top of the **** with a paper towel and laquer thinner to clean any excess. leaving the paint only in the numbers.

i just used model paint and painted the whole top and wiped it off. the numbers stayed painted

dont use crayons, it melts on a hot day, not a good idea. my brother did it.

this is what i would do. use a fine tip brush and some paint. just take your time. be careful, and keep a rag or paper towel on hand to wipe off any extra. i also wouldn't go with the crayon because like stated above if it gets hot enough its going to melt again.
