ABS Issues....(detailed post)
Guys
I've searched as much as possible on this issue before posting, and done moderately extensive testing, with minimal results.
Car - 1992 Accord EX
Issue: After ~15 seconds of driving the ABS light comes on. If I start the car, and do not move, the ABS light will not come on.
I figured this was a sensor issue, as the module detects an abnormal signal coming from one of the 4 sensors, so I set out with those first.
Since there are no aftermarket devices for testing ABS on our accords that arent OBD2, I had to go about testing the sensors individually.
Taking an ohmeter set to AC voltage, I spun each wheel with my hand. The rear 2 sensors recorded around the same voltage ~.7 with moderate spinning of the hand
Metering the front two sensors, they were off, the pass front being off considerably. At 40mph the sensor was reading around 1 volt, and the drivers sensor reading around 2.4V
I inspected the pass. side sensor and found it to be damaged, the plastic nub was broke and the metal tab bent slightly. I went to the local salvage yard and pulled a sensor off an EX.
I hooked the sensor up to the car tonight, and still get an ABS light. I've seen some people posting about clearing the light, but that doesnt make sense to me, as the light seems dynamic (meaning it comes on after it detects a fault....gets cleared when I shut the car off)
I did notice a small chip on the ABS pick-ups on that pass side axle, and believe this may be my next replaced part.......
Anyone have any other recommendations?
Thanks
Andy
