Help! my VX wont pass smog
So i got this 95 vx a while back and i need it to pass smog. My smog test results are as follows...
25mph
- HC(PPM) max = 62 mine = 99
- NO(PPM) max = 798 mine = 1012
My 15mph run passes fine.
Now I find out that there is a diode in line with the first O2 sensor. I kant belive i missed this. but yea. Need some help with this one.
I checked, i do have the p07 ecu, but i dont know if the guy before me had it mapped or something.

Im unsure about the wiring issue, but high NO is because of high temperature in the combustion chamber. The possible cause can be running lean on 02 sensor, or clogged fuel filter or the fuel injectors. High HC is hydrocarbon, possible cause could be unburned fuel, or oil leaking into combustion chambers, and cat converter. A simple oil change can help with your HC problem and maybe some seafoam for your NO.

mine would not pass and it was the egr not being triggered by the ecu. ecu problem would not turn c.e.l. i hooked up an aux channel from my alarm and activated it while car was being smogged. it can not turn on when at idle because it will shut down the car.
On the EGR... I was skimming through the Haynes manual and it mentioned being able to move the valve diaphragm up and down with minimal effort, but when i look at mine... it seems the egr is clipped on to the manifold..?? you kan kind of see it in the top of the second to last picture...
Here is a helpful thread: http://www.gassavers.org/showthread.php?t=9513
And in it there is a link to cleaning the EGR: http://home.comcast.net/~em-engineering/T2T013.pdf

last time i did my smog i bearly pass that ****. i replace the fuel filter the O2 sensor and my timing belt(it was the original belt from honda with 130,00 miles is was so loose so cuz of that im sure my timing was off cuz there was a lot of play on the belt. but maybe you can get it tight) but anyways i smog itthis year and pass with flying fu K N colors the hc was like at 15 and nox at 25 and evrything was good! oh and i also changed my butt plugs... i mean spark plugs. and runs great..... and depending where you at you might not have an EGR. i live in cali and our civics dont got an EGR YEY
My CA VX also failed due to high NO. On the retest, I drove the car on the freeway in 3rd gear for 10 minutes to heat up the catalytic converter. Luckily, there was no waiting at the shop. They tested it while it was still hot and it passed. My VX definitely needs a hot converter to burn up the NO.

if I remember correctly, I think the reverse switch and the o2 sensor plugs are the same, does that blue wire have 2 wires coming from it? and does the empty plug have 2 wires?
pretty much 2 and 2....
Its hard looking at those pics.

the blue wire i kant tell, but it looks like there is one koming from it and going to another plug. im not sure i want to strip all the wire look just yet.
the plug has a diode ? plugged into it. If taken out, after starting the kar, the CEL will kome on.

Diode? is that the thing where it sends a certain voltage to the ecu? Just take that out, plug it into the o2 sensor and then try. You might need a new o2 sensor if someone tried to do that as a fix. If it throws the o2 code then im 99% sure thats your answer.
