Keeping Type R's Stock
don't know about everybody else, but for me the improvement over stock is way out of proportion to the cost and reliability of the upgrades... with a few exceptions
of course, like an FD swap or suspension upgrades...
If you can drive the car to it's limit stock, upgrade.. of course this should apply to
tracks, not street..
Lotus... who also has too many other fish to fry to spend money on his car..

If I would have bought my car new, I probably would have kept it stock for quite some time due to car payments. I'm keeping my stock suspension till they blow, I like them and are their doing the job that I want them to.

i wanted to keep my car stock until i got my rear end handed to me at the track by an ITR with the mugen lowdown suspension and just bolt ons. my brother was telling me when he was watching that his car stayed perfectly flat around the turns when my car's suspension was at full tilt. my car could keep up on the straights, but through the turns, my stock suspension could not hang at all.
btw-i believe this was the driver's first time at this particular road course, and it was my 7/8 time there.

i'm keeping mine stock untill i feel i need to upgrade. just got home from a track event at VIR and stock is still good wid me so now i'm looking at rollover protection.
I agree as far as straight line performance, more is always better
But as far as cornering, the Rs usually have more ***** than their drivers.

I walked all over the porches in my run group at Summit Point, and my only mod is wheels and tires. The car is definitly faster than I am, even stock. Only a 1/4 mile guy would need mods.
Love mine stock! At best, and in the future, I may try getting a pair of those 16" JDM wheels in Anthracite. Maybe a Comptech ICE Box...but that is the extent of it. My biggest mod is trying to keep it secure!!! My R is definitely best in stock form. Better reliability that way also
I had Nitrous before the car even had 1,000 miles on it
I thought I was good I had all my mod before 10,000 miles (damn I look bad compared to you)
Few things can be done to USDM R and still keep it stock...
For example:
JDM 4-1 header
JDM 23mm (?) rear sway
JDM ITR SRS momo
JDM Recaro seats
These are all Honda OE parts and very functional. Best of all they won't effect the reliability of the car in anyway. (well, you can argue against JDM 4-1 header as you'll need non-OE catalytic converter)

Why does everybody want to keep there ITR's stock???
Is it because its so rare or what??
these answers, considering you refer to looks, cause i'm sure most r owners have done/will do performance mods, it usualy starts with small things, like filter.
