Did I bid too much on 2000 civic with 4 ACCIDENTS (ebay)
Hey guys, new here.
I bid $3500 (max) on a 2000 Civic LX with 135,590 miles on ebay. It didn't occur to me to check carfax until after I bid.
The car fax report lists 4 accidents & 4 owners. The 4 accidents seem to be caused by the same owner (crazy).
Can you take a quick look at part of the car fax report & the ebay listing and tell me if I bid too much for it? (should i pray someone out bids me?) I'm split. 50% of me says its a good price and worth the risk. The other 50% of me is very pessimistic about this.
I would REALLY REALLY appreciate it.

I would say you've probably outbid that car by $500 or so. Not sure how much the accidents affect the car, but it looks like it's not worth anything over $2500-$3000 MOST. I would hope you get outbid, but that's just me. It's 100% stock from what I can tell, so if you want to customize it, you're gonna be spending thousands and thousands more.
2 Things that came to my mind while looking at it:
1. Maintenance required light is on - maybe just hasn't been reset, but maybe something you have to do with it. That could be a couple hundred (oil change, new belts, new fluids, etc). Look into it, but that's the problem with ebay, can't really see the car and feel it.
2. Why are the tail-lights like that? They don't look like 99-00 civic tails to me, aren't they supposed to be red over clear with no amber?
Overall, the body appears to be in great shape along with the interior, so it's definitly clean. 135k miles is a lot, but for a good Honda, it's just getting to it's prime.
To wrap up my opinion and solely my opinion, I believe you bid too much for it.

I'd say so....I did a local search in my area and found one for sale for $3000, and I am sure you could talk em down from there...

Car looks professionally repaired, probably still books for 4.5k, and some teenager hasn't had a chance to **** it up yet. Looks like a decent buy for 3.5k.
Car looks clean, but isn't there a way to back out of it? I would suggest getting something local that you can drive.
Good luck.
Good luck.

Seems like a good deal as long as nothing mechanically wrong with it. Those are the 99-00 rear SEDAN tail lights. I think someone had it confused with the coupe tail lights.
For a nine year old all stock car, it looks like it's been taken car of. Only one thing bothers me is that it's missing a molding on the front right fender.
Also it's an automatic, so those tend to be a bit more pricier.

I don't care how clean it looks, the miles are getting up there and 4 accidents means the car was treated like ****. Who knows how many little accidents were never reported. I'd be worried about frame damage and all kinds of other problems. Don't buy someone else's issues.
Looks like it's at 3650 as of 8am. OP got outbided =X Some one else thinks the car is worth more. KBB on this car in my area is worth 4500 for good condition with clear title.
Wow, that looks immaculate considering it was involved in 4 different collisions.
It's funny it was hit on all sides of the car...lol

I've seen vehicles that were complete write-offs properly rebuilt and you would never know the difference. It really comes down to who did the work and how they did it.
looks like a decent buy, i would check for frame damage, ask the seller, ask him to send pics. if no damage ur good to go.
hondas drive into the 350k's.

Wow, thanks for all of the responses! I read them all. I ended up getting out bid (thank God).
I found another 2000 honda civic (EX!) on ebay, and I won the auction. Paid $3050 for it. It's about a 6 hour drive from my house, but providing the car description & pictures are accurate the drive will be worth it.
Here is the listing on ebay (bidding already ended obviously). It was involved in an accident a little over a year ago. Thats it though, the rest of the car fax is clean.

I'll let you guys know how it turns out!
