CT Supercharger +Exhaust...but which one?
On an 08 Si...
I have a CT Supercharger on its way (stage 1), and I'd like to install an exhaust system that is friendlier to exhausting the increased induction, but I don't want a loud obnoxious sound. I know that I can buy a silencer to stick in the pipe, but doesn't that just "plug" up the flow?
I'd like a Mugen looking tip with the performance of a Skunk2 R 70mm pipe, BUT the sound similar to the stock Si exhaust.
I curse California for not allowing me to touch the CAT, but oh well. Basically, I'm looking for the most amount of WHP and Torque from a CT Supercharger, while keeping it CARB legal. What are the exhausting suggestions? I've got intake covered...
Oh, and am I allowed to mess with the header in Califronia?

Can you do a custom exhaust in California? Because that might be your best bet. You can choose what muffler to use. There aren't a ton of exhausts that are bigger than 60mm. King Motorsports makes one with the Comptech muffler (non canister), I believe, but I don't know if they make a cat-back.
If you want a sound similar to stock SI's which a Mugen look that is good quality look at Vibrant Streetpower exhaust (I have it) or one of Greddy's non-fart-canister exhausts. I believe you can get a high flow cat, even in CA.
I had a Greddy EVO II Exhaust with my stage 1 CT Supercharger and it was great. Almost the same as stock unless you slam on the gas. Course, when you slam on the gas the supercharger whine is almost louder then the exhaust.
I never got a second glance from the cops when I ran my EVO II.

Thanks guys, I'll take both of those into consideration.
Does anyone have an option on this idea..:
Buy the Skunk2 R 70mm, and use the stock Si muffler with it. Would I defeat the purpose of the wider pipe?

ronYeah probably pointless. Better to just get an exhaust like the ones mentioned above. The vibrant has 2.5" piping which is 63.5mm. 6.5mm isn't a lot.

Its ALL CARB legal so it won't matter if I get pulled over... But I know what you mean.
i kinda like how this sounds though. i imagine with my s2rh its gonna sound completely different.

Ive accepted that my car will have to have the "fart" sound to get the increase in performance. I'm settling on the Skunk2 Mega R 70mm. From what I can tell, it gives the best performance, and leaves room for more upgrades with a header and possibly a higher flow CAT.
You honestly have several choices here man.
1.You could hollow out the stock cat, you may fail a sniffer then.
2. Buy a quality HFC, like Random tech or Magnaflow, then slap the original OEM cat housing around it. These usually pas sniffers and keep your car from smelling like hell.
3. Swap in the OEM cat every time you get a fix it ticket. With the Skunk2 70mm you will be breaking the state legal db rate anyhow. Gonna get pulled over sooner or later.

I have a Greddy Evo2 cat-back for sale, sounds amazing with the CT supercharger, quiet when you need it to be but when you get on it it's slightly louder than stock but not much. It was on my car for 10k miles and its in great condition. 450 shipped if you want it

If you want the best performance from your SC. Get Hondata Flashpro and a good cat-less header along with your exhaust. Keep your stock header and cat. If you get nailed, you can change out and put your stock header and cat back on, then reflash for tuning with flashpro.
I use to run a CT Supercharger stage 1, a CT short header and stock cat, EVO 2 Exhaust and AEM CAI (had CARB stickers for SC and CAI). With that set-up I managed to reach 260hp to the wheels. Before we increased the boost in the supercharger, changed out the value train, injectors, and changed a ton of other stuff; we installed an SSR custom race header and re-tuned with Flashpro. We gained an additional 12whp just by using a longer header and losing the cat.
