I am probally going to get alot of hate from saying this but F*** Cali, I feel bad for anyone trying to build or live the honda life style, you peeps go threw hell dealing with the cops and law enforcement out there. I recently moved out there from the mid-west, I drove my 95 vx h22 hatch across country, not even one week being out there I get pulled over. The pop my hood and I get five tickets instantly and the decomission my ****, fine whatever so I sell the car then I get a stock GSR, I/H my only mods, and its lowered on some work equip 03s, three weeks after owning the car I get smacked with another ticket for the DC header, and aem intake both with carb stickers and stamp. Since then I bailed on the whole west coast thing, good luck to anyone who continues to be harrassed by law enforcement out there. Dont get me wrong cali is a sick *** place to live, but I love my cars and I cant deal with people telling me what I can and cant do to MY PROPERTY. Lemme kno how you guys feel on this subject or similar stories.

 

**** yea Cali sucks *** when it comes to cars and regulation. The one state I hate the most is Cali. I just moved from there to Atlanta and here they have Emissions not smog meaning that its just a tail pipe in your tip and your good to go. Feel sorry for you Cali peeps.

 

It's not that hard to pass smog and keep your car legal here. I have a built B18C1 in my EJ1 and I have CARB stickers on everything and a BAR sticker.

I don't know why you got a ticket if you had CARB stamps/stickers on your header and intake. If you take it to court, it will get dismissed.

No smog, no BAR. Been driving swapped car lowered with tinted windows, exhaust, gutted cat, and CEL for years. Haven't been pulled over in 4 years.

Eff Cali. I can't even legally move there... every single one of my guns is illegal.

 

Gotta love Illinois. No smog or nothing in my county. I don't even understand why swaps are illegal though in Cali. I was getting high 20s for gas mileage in my 94LX with just intake and Z6 manifold, with the stock LX tranny before swapping in a D15B. My 93 hatchback got over 47 on a trip to Wisconsin with a GSR swap with I/H/E.

The laws on swaps are just silly.

Good question......CHP made me pop my hood on my k20 4 door. Man was that a hell of a ticket. Long story short, I drive a stock D16 now.

 

im BAR'd and have my CARB stickers on everything.

Ehh you just gotta know how to get around things. My hood has locking hood pins and i give the excuse that i dont have the key. But ive been driving swapped hondas for about 4 years and never gotten a ticket for mods.

 

If you drive around like an @ss trying to race people at every stoplight, yeah, you'll get pulled over and popped. I've been driving my EG here in CA for the past 3 years and Johnny Law doesn't even give me a second glance.

I have a friend with a GSR swapped EK w/turbo on it, but he did it the right way...CARB legal and all. No worries.

he feels bad for you because in comparsion you have alot more loops to go through in order to drive a modified vehicle in general. **** in nyc at some car meets in LI you see 9sec cars driven then and back, cops don't even bother. if they did stop most the person would get is loud exhaust ticket.

for me atleast the people who give the biggest hassle is the ny pd hwy units they are trying to stop the street racing they do on hwys and take any 1 car racing . they are doing there job. if your motor/trans and car is not stolen cops 99% of the time will just let you be.

p.s i been to cali 4 times since a lil kid and have yet to be pulled over. guess its what kinda of car you have if you fit the profile your gonna get hit

cali is a great state just with a lot of ****ed up rules.
op if you had you carb stickers fight the tickets, its a simple as that..

yea they give out alot of bull **** tickets, but there are ways around it,
easest way keep your **** legal, then when you get pulled over and the cop cant ticket you , you can laugh at him,#2 stay under the radar, dont do stupid ****, chances are thy will leave you alone.

 

they cant, inless they have probial casue, then they can damn near rip your car apart on the side of the road.

if they dont have probial cause, tell them to **** off...
but if you dont have anything to hide, just let them, your runing a risk telling them no,
rememer they can come up with some bull ****, tow your car, and then do anything they want.

cali is pretty burnt for honda's but the cops aint that crazy all depending on where you are... LA cops are burnt cuz they have a lot of crime, and suburb police are extra burnt cuz they dont want any crime. I live in a little suburb next to anaheim, and cops try to roll my black *** all the time in my slammed ej coupe. at the same time i driven past cops in la and not pulled over. Thats just bad luck on your part, it all depends on the area. and sadly your race, it is a cop's job to racial profile whether they want to put it that way or not. But also the circumstances, like what time of day/night your driving around.

you might be pissed that you got rolled like that, but if i was a cop i'd pull me over too.

 

i moved out to cali about 3 months ago i still have VA plates on and i got pulled over and was told to pop the hood. took it to court and judge threw out all 3 tickets for some interstate regulation laws or something. it has to be LA i was drivin down the PCH towards Long beach when I got stoped. never been stoped up here in ventura.

 

**** U ALL...cali is the ****..except for the pigs, and emissions..we got the best scene, meets, and hondas period...but we all pay the price cause we got the most thieves and strictest laws against us...Personally ive never had problems w/ the police tho, it would help if u dont get pulled over for driving like a ****ing idiot..most my problems been with thieves...**** THIEVES!!!

If you're not worrying about getting pulled over and getting a ticket because your air filter doesn't pass CARB regulations, then you're worrying about mexicans eyeing up your car waiting for the perfect time to steal it. I'll take my cold PA winters anytime over that ****ing bullshit.

 

yea, cali sucks when it comes to the law enforcement. ive lived here my whole life. but if you dont have dark tint, a loud exhaust and you have a front plate, you will never get pulled over. unless you drive like an idiot.
