Default avid linkege to short???

it it possable for avid linkege to be to short? i put the b16a in my 89 hatch and im not getting it into 2nd,4th or reverse... im thinking its because its to short to push it into gears, as there the 3 gears it has to push to get into gear? the other reason for my thinking is im using ebay mounts that sit the engine/tranny forward alot more than other mounts like hasport, so is this possable? ive got it into 2nd and 4th a few times but its really hard but most of the time it just grinds..and btw its a b16 lsd cable tranny

I had the same issue with my b18 swap in a 90 hatch. At first I bought ebay mounts which put the motor about an inch forward and I had to extend the shift linkage, that made it hard to get into gears. If you got extra $ invest into some good Avid mounts and avid shift linkage, I did and it took care of the problem

i dont know...i got the engine/tranny in a trade and both are super clean but the guy had it in a eg hatch and said he had problems with getting it into gear but thaught it was the linkage he had was bent, because it worked in the integra it came out of.. but you know how that goes...im just trying everything before i pull it out.. i also think its odd that it works fine in 1st,3rd,and 5th.. not even 3rd gear grind..

I see what your saying, all the FORWARD gears work, but REVERSE ones dont. Take out the shift linkage, its called a zigzag bushing, see if its worn out. Its the bushing where the shifter connects onto the shift linkage. Know what I mean?

Than its defenitely hitting on something, have someone try to get it into gear and you check if somethings wrong. If its not that, invest in a good b series tranny, and swap that LSD
