Icon6 1991 Honda Civic Lx 1.5 Swap

Hello,

I am new to this whole thing. I would like to know what will bolt right in my car. I have a 1991 Civic LX 1.5 MT that has 130,000.00 Miles, I want to replace/swap the engine and have no idea as to where to start. What will bolt up to the old mounts, will i need a new ecu, will all exhaust bolts line up, will the drive shafts be in the right place, what transmission do i need, Basically i am after a swap from a 98 Hp 1.5ltr engine to something a little more powerful (Not FAST) that will get me around but still get up and go when needed.

any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

yep. 1.5 is a d15. you can look at the front of the block for the casting numbers. a 1.6 is a d16, or it can also be a b16. but b and d series are obvoiusly different.

ok, so is the difference between the d15 and d16 much? its seems as if the d16 is alot easier to come by than the d15

its actually the other way around. only about 17% of all ef's came with a d16. the only real noticable difference between the d15 and d16 is the intake setup. the d15 usually comes with a dual point fuel injection system, whereas the d16 usually comes with a multi point fuel injection system.

yeah, the zc is the cheapest quick upgrade, but the most common would be to convert the car to obd1 and convert it to multi point, and throw on a v-tec head.
