Default b18cr build questions

well since the machine shop dude completely killed my type r rods and rod bolts, my new just pressed on my jdm type r pistons are trash since i know you cant get them off the rods and save them.. i worked at a machine shop for a couple years and know its nearly impossible with some piston damage

so i am just gonna get eagle rods and je pistons...i know i need to get them all weight matched, so should i get the rotating assemble balanced?

if i toss the black box on the back of the block and freeze plug the hole and run a vacum line off the pcv valve above it to a catch can, will that be fine for me (no crankcase pressure isses)???

all the coolant lines that run off the head to the throttle body and iacv, can they be deleted? i know on other motors, we've taken them off and had no problems.

thanx...yes im a noob but ive been reading and searching so dont tell me to look at the faq.

That's strange, my machinist is always able to return my stock pistons to me w/o damage. Are you heating up the small bore ends on the rods before removing the wrist pins?

And yes, you should have the rotating assembly balanced, didn't you learn anything while working at that machine shop?

i figured i had to balance it, dont know what i was thinking there...

we never heated the small ends of the rods to get pistons off cause no use in re-using pistons cause usually your going with new ones.

since my rods are trashed, my arp bolts are trashed, im calling the pistons trash too since im not gonna pay 100 bucks for new rods, 100 bucks for new arp bolts when i can pay 300 bucks for eagle rods at this point. so im not gonna use oem pistons at this point either (or pay to have them machined for spiral locks or whatever)

If you're on a budget, look for a set of used gsr/itr rods here on h-t. I seen a few sets a while back sell for $50. Arp rod bolts are about $80-85. Pressing on arp rod bolts and reconditioning the stock rods cost me $40.
Or check out this auction on ebay

Good luck.

i had type r rods and arp bolts once, i thought the machine shop could handle pressing them in and resizing the rods, but now he turned my rods and bolts into paper weights. so i rather just spend the money on eagle rods this time....i didnt in the first place cause i tend not to replace someone when it will work just fine...

i am on a budget and i was on a timeline but once the machine shop totalled my stuff, i kinda got screwed...so i got a loaner car til january and then i got another friend willing to give me one of his 10 he got around...so im good.

so how about the other 2 questions???
