Here is one example why I love buying things at Home Depot:
I bought my dremel rotary tool from them 1.5 years ago, stupid me thought the warrenty was only for a year so I threw it out a few months ago. Then all of a sudden my dremel started working like chit (running at different rpms than what I set it at, turning itself off for no reason, etc.). I looked through the manual to see what could be wrong in the trouble shooting section, nothing was listed but then I noticed that it has a 5 year warrenty (doh!).
I went back to Home Depot and asked them what are my choices, they said the would exchange my faulty one with a brand new one but I need a reciept. Luckily I keep all of my mastercard bills, my M/C bill doesn't have dremel rotary tool written on it but they excepted it anyways and now I've a new (redesigned) dremel tool (with a better switch so it won't go faulty like my last one did).
Summary: Home Depot will take care of your warrenty needs while other places might get you to deal with the manufacturer direct.
PS: I made myself a brake master cylinder brace using nothing but my dremel tool.

The only thing I can't stand about Home Depot is that some of the workers there don't know chit. I find it funny when I ask them about a product and they grab it from my hands and read the label....one of these days I'm gonna say "um...I can read english and have already read that."
BTW - I refinished a house with my uncle, was back and forth to the local Home Depot for a month (and that Home Depot is opened 24 hours a day, 7 days a week).

Maybe they just quit selling the screwdrivers. Which sucks, because I have two more bent ones (they have given me money back for the other two
