im trying to find out what to add to a engine of a 1998 ex civic coupe
like what could i do to increase the acceleration, horsepower, handling, and even top speed
also can someone explain to me what a flywheel does for a car and please be simple with your answer im not exactly sure about what inertia means
also please explain to me what a strut bar, coil overs, and what a sway bar does and please again in simple terms

the acceleration can be done by beefing up ur trans. to add horses headers and cold air will do it. a strut, and sway bar will help in handling the strut makes it so the frame is more stiff and so it dont flex... idk the rest of ur qustions but i hope it hellped a little.
there is more to it than that
yall need to throw a research party
don't think your just going to throw some parts at it and get what you want

You not gonna see much gain with boltons, maybe 8hp or so.
But yes do search, heck even search wiki for the suspension questions

sounds like you need to buy a used car that is already done up the right way from someone on here. My wife knows more than you. I dont want you to get screwed. You need to do research and read!

If you just want the best out of what you have then:
- Air intake upgrade or replacement.
- Replace suspension and do the sway bars while your at it.
- Upper strut bars are cake.
- Get better headers, piping, and overall exhaust flow.
- and the list is pretty general and you get the idea.
As for the rest you will just have to research and google your @$$ off. Don't both with the search function on HT because it takes forever to find what you need, google is way better.
Also, give the FAQ section a glance and howstuffworks.com, no kidding.
acceleration NA research light weight fly wheels
HP research motor mods/ rebuilds or FI

well i know its alot but what im wondering is that my bro said it would cost around 6000 but i dont kno if he talking about nearly a new one or it actually costs that so what would be better to buy the engine or just buy the car
ya search and learn a bit
i'm guessing u have a d16y8. 3 options for power are engine swap, boosting (turbo, supercharge), and N/A (mentioned above were intake, headers, exhaust..u can also do internal work aka cylinders, and head work aka cams and valvetrain).
the n/a option is very pricey over time and will get u the least gains. turbo can give huge gains for cheap but if done wrong u will blow ur engine, and it will never be as fast/reliable as an equally modded b,h,f,k-series. swaps are expensive for not much power gains, but u get a much much better platform to work with.
if u haven't researched much, u may not understand this all super clearly..so get at it!!
just my .02

it took me over a year to finally decide whether i wanted to swap or go turbo and to figure out a good budget and what power levels are right for me. we all researched a lot, so do some homework!!
first step is what do u want the car for? daily driver, autocross, drag strip, track racing, etc
well i partly want it for a show car kind of in a way but its gonna be my daily driver and i might do some drag races but im not going to make it a straight out just for dragging car

4 cylinder hondas only have 1 exhaust manifold so its HEADER . no 's' big pet peeve of mine.
for a DD i've recomend going all motor no turbo or S/c. you can pick up a B20 and get a Vtec head and make a CRvtec for under 3 grand (others doing the work of course)
but if i where you, don't waste money on boltons. because most you get will only fit the d series. my .02. swap for dd use. and don't say a s/c or turbo will be reliable because the more parts you add on the more parts are going to fail. been there done that.
just for the record
I'm sohc na coup
and i run dohc coups and hatches all the time and wax their asses...
i's not hard or expensive to build a sohc to run with the dohc's
