Default Looking to buy an 05-06 TL

I am looking to get a TL thats just a few years old for my soon to be wife to drive to work and back. Are there any issues I should look for when going to test drive them? I have heard these cars have a lot of transmission issues in the auto models and wondered if there are any clearly diagnosable problems I can look for when buying? Post some pros and cons to these cars that may or may not make me want to buy one. Thanks in advance for any constructive input you guys might have.

Chris.

05+ TL are pretty reliable and do not have the horrid transmission failures that previous cars do.

Pros

Performance- yeah it moves pretty good
comfort
BT
Navigation
Heated mirrors and seats
Leather
MIDS
Realitively compact size while giving lots of room and trunk space
VSA, TCS, ABS straight from the previous gen CL/TL-S
Can get up to 32mpg if you drive it right
Sun roof
XM satalite radio

Cons

Can be spendy to fix
cold start = non smooth engine operation (done on purpose to heat the car up quicker)
Leather wears quickly
dash can crack
FWD?

If you drive it and it does not shift right when cold.......pass and go to the next one

I thought the cold start misfirings were on the 04's only? And that was only to heat up the catalytic converters faster?

My tl just hit 52k and I've had no issues at all . I drive the autobahn daily and average 110-130mph all day , it never hick ups.............it averages 20-24 mpg. Best car I've ever owned......6spd ftw... damn autos

Thank you guys for your input. I think we are at a toss up between the TL and the TSX. The TSX gets better gas mileage and is basically a Honda Accord. The thing with the TSX is they are about the same price as a TL of the same year and mileage and the TL is a more of a sport luxury car instead of a not so sporty sedan trying to be a luxury car but gets better MPG. It's a tough choice.
