Very Bumpy Ride, please help
Hello,
I've had a problem with my V6 '00 Accord coupe. When riding over bumps, the feeling is very uncomfortable. For example, a road that has had repairs to it (with that asphalt junk), when riding over them, the feeling is very bumpy/harsh.
I went to the mechanic and he replaced my struts. I figured that would do it but when I ride around, the car still feels the same.
When I first got my car, I used to ride over bumps or anything and it would feel "soft" and comfortable. Now it is so rigid and uncomfortable.
I've had other people ride in my car and by the feeling they said I should change my "shocks". This was after I changed my struts.
Any suggestions or ideas? I know this isn't normal but the mechanic keeps saying everything is fine. It is driving me crazy because I spend $700 to replace the struts and it doesn't feel any better at all! I feel like, if the struts weren't the problem, why did he replace them!!
Thanks!

No lowering kit, right?
What brand struts?
P
Thanks for the reply.
I'm not sure what brand of struts, but he usually orders parts from the dealer.
I haven't lowered my car or really done anything extra to it.
I'm not sure what bottoming is. It just feels like the whole car moves when I hit a bump. In my other Accord, when I ride over bumps, it feels soft and comfortable. The good accord doesn't make any extra noise when going over bumps. On the one that is the problem, the same bumps feel like the whole car is moving and there is much more noise.

Do you get a knocking sensation thru the steering wheel while this is going on?

That was my first thought as well.
sketchman, where are you located? Maybe someone on the board is local to you that would be willing to go for a road test with you.
In regards to the mechanic replacing the struts... When diagnosing problems, the mechanic often times has to take his best (and usually educated) guess. Unfortunately, that means that there will be times where a part, or parts, will be replaced without resolving the problem. In most cases, you get stuck with the bill.

maybe your shocks are out or your springs are bad go out to your car and push down on it the suspension is suppose to be stiff so if you can easily push down and make it jump then your suspension's bad
