Default Need help deciding on stock tranny for this weekend

OK i need some help i need a decision today on what to do.

I have to wait for a dog box and so forth so this Sunday is cscs and i need to get my gears in.

2nd gear on my gsr is not going in at all when the car hits high rpms, no grinds its just a brick wall.

car is at 508 should be in the 550-650hp range by then, 24.5x8x13" slick

Currently it has a gsr tranny with kaaz diff.

i have two options

Type r gear set complete except diff and final drive meaning i would use mine or
New synchrol set from honda for the gsr.

My question is , will the type r tranny be to short of a gear for the 1320.
I keep hearing mixed answers where i might have to shift into 5th down the line, is this true?

Help me out guys the feedback has been great on this site to previous questions and i appreciate that.Thanks.

Without knowing your redline I cant help you much, around 8,700-9,000rpm in 4th you should be around 140mph with the B16/ITR Gearing.

8700-9000rpm will get you 130-135mph

here is the graph (8700 on left, 9000 on right): http://www.teammfactory.com/gearcalc...ission+1+and+2

Does your calculator factor in the slicks growing in diameter as you go down the track?? That is why I answered in the 140 area..... at 8700-8800rpm with my B16 Gearing I went 137 with 24.5's......

No, therefore there will be +/- mph on top of the calculated values. How much, no one knows, but at least this gives you a good base to work from when choosing what ratios to use

I have been kicking around getting the liberty set myself man because my 3rd gear sounds like your 2nd gear. I have started double clutching 3rd to get it in there ad it works you could try that and see how much it affects you first
