Default FORGED LS VTEC BUILD ISSUE.

oK here is the issue, i got an ls/vtec engine that i am rebuilding for my cousin. it had weisco pistons, and eagle rods that i am re-using for the build along with an ls crank, supposidly the machine shop miced everything out.

I am geting a .001 oil clearance on the rods
-using the green plastiguage
-arp eagle* rod bolts 43ftlbs torque spec( different spec from the regular arp bolts)
- seen here, 6th bolt down http://www.eaglerod.com/index.php?op...d=24&Itemid=25
7/16 rod bolt head btw

the bearings the machine shop provided are safty bearing brand? never heard of it.
found here http://www.safetyautoparts.com/webca...adcatalog.html
standard size. (whats your input on these?)

One thing i might add, the eagle rods along with the caps have numbers etched into them, i guess they are weight numbers or serial numbers not quite sure. I am feeling that these rods and caps may have gotten mixed up, is there anyway to tell which rod went with which cap?

looks like i will have to remove everthing and mic it all out.
what specs would you guys recommend for the oil clearances? this is for a 12-12.5:1 build.

Any Help is appreciated, Thanks!

thank you sir, anyone think those rod bolts are correct? they are the arp eagle spec bolts that come with the eagle rods, but i been seeing a couple guys on here and they had the 3/8 size head on their ealge spec arp rod bolts.

if you put that motor togther and run it you will burn a bearing in a heart beat, get more clearance

.001 is going to tear it up.
and im not a fan of plastiguage, get yourself a micrometer and a dial bore gauge set. and like all-mtr-teg said .0015 - .0017

How old are they? Eagle increased the size of their rod bolts after a couple of years.

If those caps and rods got mixed up you need to have those rods honed. Its a good idea anyway because rod big end bores can get elongated with use, especially with high rpm engines.
