Phillips HID help............
I did a search already......
I had the HIDs for about 2 months now. This is the second time this happened, I turned on the lights and the drivers side didnt turn on. So I turned them back off then on again and it came back on. This is the same bulb as the first ime this happened. I checked all the wiring and it seems fine. It works fine now, I turned them on and off numerious times to test them out. Any suggestions.

Happened to me too. I believe there was a thread awhile back that explained it was because of the bulb contacting with some metal in the head light housing.

Did you change out the fuses?
That happened to me once. But in my situation BOTH bulbs did not come on. I'm not sure what exactly is happening. If it is that metal piece touching the housing, could it be grounding it out? I'm not sure. My alarm is setup that when I press a certain button I can turn my headlights on. I pressed it and the HID's didnt come on but my parking lights were on. I was freakin out a lil. hehe! But it hasn't done it since. If you ordered from Trevor (visualdynamics), email him. I'm sure he knows exactly what is happening. Good luck!

Yeah, if you ordered it from Trevor, it just might be that one of the harnesses supplied is faulty. Just tell Trevor and he'll send you a new one. That's what happened to me and Trevor sent me a new one right away.

Well, this is what happens with my HID on my 99GSR(also purchase the 4300k kit from Trev this past GB). They ALWAYS have come on and worked great when turned on AFTER the car has already been started(ignited), BUT if I first turn on the lights THEN start the car, then it seems that the passenger side will ALWAYS NOT TURN ON. This is always the case, I do not think that the passenger side has ever started when turned on before the car has been started, whats up with that? So I just always turn them on after I start the car, but I dont know why this happens, I did replace the fuses(I think I went to like 25A ones) when I first installed them, anyone know what this happens, and does this happen with anyone else?

Crap!! it did it again and this time it didnt automatically come back on. It came back on when I took out the bulb and put it back in carefully. Even then it took a sec longer for the drivers side (problem side) then it took for the pasanger side. Maybe it is the harness. I'll email Trevor.

I think I have the solution....this has happened to me before.
I have the Philips 6000K kit and if I turn it on and off rapidly, one of the bulbs probably would not light up.
what I learned is that between turning it on or off you need to give the bulbs time to cool off before you light it back up again....pretty much like a home air conditioner..... they say give it a few minutes before you restart it.
Anyhow, I made my HID kit a permanent part of my car and soldered the wiring harness to my OEM lighting harness, that way I wont have to worry about loose connections etc.

if your hid's ballasts have ignitors built in (the extra square looking unit relaying between ballast and bulb) you should not have this problem except a grounding problem.
if you dont have it, then what vtec-man95gsr says is good info.

25 amps is too much...take out the 25 ampers right away or you might risk frying the whole system...I think stock is 15, max you should use is 20.

So is everyone positive that a 20A is better than a 25A one, I believe Trevor's 'instructions' indicate either a 20 or 25 Amp fuse(maybe even a 30A, I cant remember). Regardless, they work fine 100% of the time as long as I turn them on after turning on the car, and I think that is best for them anyways, so I will continue to do this anyways, no reason to send an extra jolt of energy to them by starting the car after they are on, it cant be too good for them anyways.

my 95 GSR on right with 6000K HID vs. stock GSR lighting
Here is the wiring w/o the ignitors, less components to mess up. Also notice the wire with the wire loom is the one that goes into the factory lighting harness. Thats where I soldered it.
I know a guy that put in another battery and his worked fine after that....dont know how that would work but i guess the battery he had was not giving enough juice. he had the exact same problem and that other battery helped him out. dont know all the details about it just heard him talking to someone about it that had the same problem.
Well I can tell you all this much. I went through a bunch of crap with my HID kit from Trev. He is a great guy and the problems were all on my end so I didn't have to send anything back, but we originally kept thinking it was a faulty ballast.
I started testing just like I do with computers and networks, by using a process of elimination. It ended up being the stock sockets that used to interface with the stock bulbs and now interface with the HID harness. On one side I was getting intermittent outages for no reason. Well, it seems there must have been a bit of dust or grime on one of the plugs and it created a nasty burr which was shorting out the light. It got hot as well and after I took out the socket and started examining it, I noticed how hot it had gotten...to the point of melting the plastic socket itself. So, I went to a boneyard and picked some fresh ones off of a prelude. Wired them back in for both sides of the car and no more problems.
It makes me a bit hesitant about doing the high beams though.... also, so glad I stuck with the 4300k kit. The 6000k kits look like total rice when you see them IMHO.
