B16 CRX swap. Where do these plugs/wires go?
Hello all.
Im in the middle of doing my first swap and need a little help. Ive tried searching but i cant find anything specific to my needs. I have everything plugged in except these plugs/wires and im not sure where they go as there is nothing in their vicinity that looks like it mates to them. Any help would be great.
89 CRX HF
JDM b16A(pulled from an ef8 front clip)
My original wire harness was stolen and i had to buy one from craigslist. Seller stated no cuts and it was already wired for VTEC.

in the second pic the square plug is your 4 wire 02 sensor
and the wire is a ground.bolt's on top of your thermostat housing.
first pic im not sure if you need it or not? what model did that harness come from?

by the way, you may wanna trim that bracket down on your fuel supply line, i broke a tps sensor every 3 days for 2 weeks straight because of that
So do I need the plug in the first pic?
Not sure what year the harness came from, got it off craigslist, seller said it came from a b16 crx.
That is an o2 sensor plug? Its attached to the tranny. since there is nothing around it that looks like it plugs into it should i try to find the plug from the jdm harness and wire it in?

if it plugs into the tranny then its for your electic VSS (speed sensor). and yes you will need the resistor box, its used for your injectors. if you are not using a jdm or newer cluster, then just go to the junkyard and get one from any b or d series motor that has a cable transmission and connect your speedometer cable to it coming from the back of your cluster.

Ok so the plugs aren't part of the engine harness? Why wont my stock cluster work? Am I just missing some plugs? What exactly am I looking for if I need to purchase it online, hondas at the junkyards here get picked clean pretty fast.
ok so the first picture, the plug goes to resistor box, you need the resistor box if u are running odb0(which in this case you are), second picture the wire that is by itself is just a ground, you can ground that on the thermostat housing, the plug is for the o2 sensor....
and to answer ur question about the cluster, jdm tranny use electric vss sensors, the us tranny uses cable, in other words if u are using ur stock cluster u need a vss from a single cam tranny that is cable or a us 90-93 integra vss....

I must be missing the resistor box, gonna get one on ebay tonight. I have my HF tranny laying around, would I be able to swap the VSS and use my stock cluster?
yes and dont get the resistor box from ebay, go to the junk yard and either 5 finger it or pay 5 bux for it
I have the JDM cluster but no plugs. Anyone know which plugs I can use to make it all work correctly? My crx also has the rectangle cluster housing so ill need to find a 90-91 round housing. Couldnt find much on google, just a lot of old unanswered posts.
Bump for a new pic added. Still having trouble starting it and found this unconnected plug under the intake manifold. Whats it for and wheres it go.
you might be using a jdm ef engine harness if everything else is obo0. take the whole harness back out and take a picture of it. you confusing all of us by having those pictures.

Wonder why you have a gray plug on that harness. The Si harness had no gray plugs. Either way its not an O2 plug as it only has 3 wires. The area its in makes it seem like VSS plug for the speedometer but your car is a cable transmission and won't need that sensor type. The plug on the back is for the fast idle control solenoid valve:

The grey plug is the VSS. Does the b16 use the fast idle plug? Just got the swap running and I have a CEL now, haven't been able to see what its for yet.
