Default New cruising car -2000 civic DX

A friend of mine who is a mechanic had a virtually mint VSM 2000 civic DX with 105k miles... automatic yes, but I didn't mind.

I got it for $3,000 and his promise has always been that if any part breaks he will fix free of charge.

My family has bought all our cars from him for over 20 years now and they have all been very reliable.

Here's some pictures of it if any of you are interested

I UPDATE THIS THREAD DAILY !

(Bad quality cell phone pics and no interior shots yet. This is before i got the car.)

That's a gsr exhaust tip in case anyone was wondering... just for looks. ( tip was recently stolen )

Bad interior shot... will take a new one soon with a rear seat shot also

UPDATE: 11/17/09

HX wheels and new grille. Just bought paint the other day from automotivetouchup.com for the grille. will post another update when it's painted.

UPDATE: 11/28/09

Painted the grille this week. Has to be repainted though due to rushing. There are 2 fingerprints and 1 line that messed up but isn't noticeable unless you get up real close

UPDATE: 11/29/09

Picked up some SI seats from my friend

UPDATE: 1/5/10

OEM fogs with yellow Luminics bulbs and yellow Lamin-x

UPDATE: 2/14/10

SI Lip and Ground Controls

DIY Gunmetal housing

UPDATE: 2/15/10

CRV Cluster

UPDATE: 2/16/10

Sharpied climate control bulbs. Came out matching perfect to the cluster

UPDATE: 3/9/10

Some new pictures from yesterday. Lowered it some more

UPDATE 6/18/10

Sorry for not updating this for dumb long lol, here's a bunch of pictures to catch up on

Easter

Sold the LS meshes for ticket money lol. Picked up some 88' GTI teardrops later on and changed the look of the car a little. All clear fogs, stock grille, and spoon mirrors, 5 panel wink mirror

And here is present day

I say lowering springs and some white hx rims or rota gt3's. That auto should be a comfy car to drive in traffic.

Completely spotless for the most part. It looks like no one ever sat in the back seats and the mats have yet to be vacuumed and shampooed by my friend.

Also before I get the car he is touching up any deformities in the paint and washing/waxing and tuning the car so it is in pristine condition when I pick it up

3,500 for a 2000 is not too much. You are right where you should be, man. Kbb has a 2000 dx at 120k (just a guess, I don't know how much yours actually has) in excellent condition for $4,400.

105k but yeah. After I sell my computer to someone I'll have an extra $900-1500 bucks to spend and I'll be getting these goodies most likely....

waaaay too much for a DDDDDDXXXXXX!!! especially if he's your friend

dude take your chances .what are the odds things are going to break if it's your cruiser?
it's not like your going to be taking the y7 to the track. that's pretty much the only way you'll get major breakdowns on that car

as long as you do maintenance you should be fine for a few years powertrain/drivetrain wise

I would pay $2700 tops
sheat I paid $2700 and an old kenwood kc-702 amp for my 2000 hatch 2 years ago in babied condition (belonged to a little old lady)

I could probably talk him down no doubt but he's also done quite a bit of favors for us. I'm just gonna say all I have is $3000

Yes it does, but the OP did say the sales guy would fix anything that breaks on the car. OP, make sure to get a signed contract/agreement that he will fix what ever is needed to fix in the future.

You dont want to end up going to people's court.

CARFAX it! Do not paint the moldings, they will look painted, aka crappy, just order new ones.

for a reliable non molested civic, i say its worth it

since its a cruiser, dx will get better mileage and the auto-tragic transmission will be nice for sitting in traffic

i say leave it stock so no one wants to steal it, it looks clean
