Default cheap and quiet exhaust for EG?

I know that the Mugen twiploop and the RS*R exhaust is the quieter exhaust systems, but the RS*R is not available anymore, and the Mugen is too damn expensive.

What muffler is quiet? I am thinking about a custom system. I dont care what it looks like (no 5" tip, please). How is Magma Flow? Flowmaster?

My car: built B18C1, 92 EG hatch, turbo. The car makes a lot of power now, and am willing to let up to 20HP go for a quieter system.

flow master is pretty quite i have it on my Si. The only thing is that it looks like ****. if u can mount it better it might look better, if u want a used one i would part with mine, if i found a new exhaust.

You need something w/ at least 2.5" piping for the setup you have. The Apexi Worldsport is VERY quiet. I didnt notice a difference over the stock sound, its also just a little less than 2.5" but should be good for your setup.

If you are looking for quietness you can always go for the ES oval muffler and then weld in an additional resonator which you can get at 2.5 so you won't sacrifice for performance.

with an es and only one resonater, ill bet that setup with be raspy and still a little rough, i would toss one blue streek and another smaller resonator near the begining of the lca...

I've also heard good things about Apexi WS, but it is pretty expensive and from what I have read here, it is back ordered at most places.

ES Oval? I've never heard of it, who makes it? Anyone know how it compares to Flowmaster (again, I dont care what it looks like, and I don't really care what it "sounds" like.. as long as it is quiet).

Thanks for your help!!

He said cheap and quiet. I gave him the cheapest and most quiet alternative.

Just like the old term goes

Fast / Reliable/ Cheap : You may only choose two

wouldnt the turbo engine require more than 2.5 inch piping? i always thought that 3 inch was good for turbo. because i think there are resonaters you can put in the piping i think to make that quieter.

People always say that you need a 3 inch system to get good power out of a turbo. The truth is that a larger exhaust system certainly helps, but keep in mind that the larger the pipes, the slower the exhaust moves--this is what you don't want. My feeling is that a 2.5 inch system for up to around 300whp, and 3 inch if you want to make 350+ hp.

Es oval, who makes it?

I gave him exhaust advice and then stated my opinion of the back bumper. How bad is that.

the point is, if he wanted advice on his bumper, the thread would have been titled, "Check out my bumper" not "cheap and quiet exhaust for EG?". Your bumper comment had no place in this thread. Sorry to the guy with the bumper. This guy must be a "JDM" person. I personally like the bumper

i agree. i have the es oval with 2 1/2 also with a 2 1/2 resonator and it sounds stock. and when you get on it, it sounds nice and deep.

Thanks, its all good. Its fine what people think but Honda Tech has been a good msg board with none of little flames, and I hope it stays that way.

I still think the Apexi WS is worth it moneywise, maybe a little more but still fairly priced.

to all.

I wasnt giving advice on his bumper and telling him what to do with it, i was saying that "I" am not into that rear bumper and bodykits in general, i was only stating my opinion which it seems im not allowed to do from the 2 replies to my post.

yep, not bad at all...
EASTSIDE MUFFLERS installed my magnaflow 24" and ES oval with custom mandrel bent 2 1/2" tubing for under a $100...so total cost was $250
