what year did a D16ZC motor come from like what year and make non-vtec i need help ordering a timing belt an dnt know what year the motor is all i know is that its a D16zc twin cam 1.6 or 1.5L can anybody help me out???

my D16zc is a non-vtec the part number that comes up for my motor is 95142 i use the original belt number an in the stores this is what they come up with so its like 25 bucks so im jus wondering if thats tha right belt?

its a Sohc and black top an my car is an 89 crx si and i dnt knw the year of the motor the motor was built then but in car be4 i bought it so thats why im so confused about the car im new with hondas im use to working on Nissans an Toyota and old muscle cars thats why im askin for some help so were i can learn about honda

 

what is the engine code? it will be where the red circle is in the picture below - are the spark plugs toward the rear of the engine (intake side) like the picture below? or, are they toward the front of the engine (exhaust side)?

 

there was to of them 202194 and L3-1596581 idk which one is the right one

 

if it's SOHC then use a timing belt from a d16a6, it basically the same motor. the d16a6 came in the 88-91 civic/crx

 

the L3 number is for the transmission - the 202194 below the 'ZC' would indicate to me that you have a Double Overhead Camshaft (DOHC) ZC which uses the same timing belt as the 88 Prelude 2.0 SI - the DOHC ZC has a valve cover like this:

the dohc ZC doesnt have vtec, but it has a vacuum advance like on the nissan sentra's VE motor.

 

ok i got it fix but now it wants to bog down in every gear form 1 to 3 rpms then hits 4 an 5 then takes off? an it wasnt doing that be4 now why is it doing that can it be the spark plugs not tight? or the distributor can be set to low??

 

I reckon your timing is still off.

 

its off a tooth an also my car lights an everything cuts off the i have to push it down a hill a engage the clutch the everything comes back on an starts what does that mean? so many things happen to this car

 

Your battery dies? So you can't start it? Bad ground?

 

ok its fix now but its still off a tooth it has top end power now but i like my take off power now that i dnt have but what should i do

 

You should set your timing correctly.

 

i didnt do it i let a trusting friend do it but wont do that again

 

Doesn't matter who did it, the only way to fix it is by setting the timing correctly, you're going to have problems if it's left the way it currently is. There isn't any makeshift solution that's going to fix bad timing.
