Default oem car cover -- good for outdoors?

Just as the title says, i am curious if the OEM car cover is made specifically for indoor use only? It seems more like a blanket that would soak then the cheap aftermarket cover i had for my civic.

i wouldnt use it outdoors by itself. if you want, use that on your car, then get an outdoor car cover to put on top. or you could just get a high quality outdoor car cover that has a soft interior and a durable exterior

I use mine outdoors 24/7. It used when I park at work and at my living complex.

I live In SoCal and it was the best thing i have purchased for the S. Of course i would not use it for bad weather. It is used to prevent dust getting on the car and also shades the car from the sun. I never wash the car, I use detail spray once a week to keep it clean.

Good post, what do you all recommend?

I bought one @ auto zone last july, but it never stayed on...a little wind would blow it off...

i use a covercraft noah one for the outdoors that includes a lot of rain + snow.

i also use a wolf noah for my integra. same material.

the covercraft one is better for the S2K because it comes w/ a little pocket for the antenna as well.

I honestly would never use a car cover outside, unless it is for a very short period of time. Had a car cover on a vehicle parked outside, when the wind blew, dirt would collect inside the cover. When I pulled it off a week later, I could have replicated the same results with some 600 grit sandpaper.

not sure what kind of car covers you're using, but the ones i have are a perfect snug fit that wraps around the bumpers. it's custom made specifically for the car.

i've had my s2k out in the winter for 5 months and my teg covered for 7 months total now and don't have any problems you're describing.

I do own the OEM car cover. You can tell by the S2000 name imprinted in red on the front of the hood area. That thing fits like a glove. A hurricane wouldn't be able to make that thing come off. It may not protect it from rain and snow (which happens very minimaly) but protects from the rest of elements. One of my best purchases for my S.

the Wolf brand cover with the Noah material will be cheaper, but you will need to unscrew your antenna if you get that one

I found some decent ones from empire. This cover was a replacement cover for a custom cover that cost three times as much and started leaking water and collecting dust under the cover in less than a year. My Empire cover is 4 months old, has survived numerous strong thunderstorms and seering Texas sun, and so far is exceeding my expectations. I have 3 cars under cover, soon the other two will be covered by Empire.

I've heard of owners applying water resistant/repelling solutions (i.e.Tennis shoe spray) to the OEM car cover. Just an idea.

They recommend just spot cleaning the cover with soap and water or use a front loading washer.

i think he's talking about waterproofing it, not cleaning it.

no. OEM cover is a DUST cover and will fail to the elements. You are going to need to step it up and get a good cover. Usually will run you about 240+ depending. Google is your friend.
