Who all has done the D2B addapter?

 

We have a good friend of ours that is testing it this week w/o an adaptor plate. It is all mocked up and ready to go , they did everything in like 2-3 days. They will be testing it this week so I will let you know how it goes. This is on a 96' coupe full interior and with the stock tranny it ran 10.61@138 mph. I will keep you updated !

 

Thanks for the idea ive got mine done and tested it works perfect with no plate i ran a 10.3@150 last sunday as soon as i can get all the pictures together ill post them up for everyone to see.
Pretty much u need to be able to weld aluminum and have some mechanical skill and anyone can put a b-series tranny on a sohc its just as easy if not easier then the CG tranny

I started with a twin disc so i dont know if a stock clutch will work but the top bolt above the started lined up i was just using the front half of a gsr case with the input shaft in it.The top front bolt had to be oblonged and it bolt up.The front 2 bolts on the d-series block where drilled out and ground flat on the inner side of the block to bolt through to the tranny.The rear uses the stock hole.On the 2 front and 1 rear bolt we had to weld up the case of the tranny and drill and tap it so it still has 5 bolts holding the tranny to the block.The half shaft is a stock b-series one with the tabs cut off and new ones made to bolt to the stock location for the d-series one.The starter is also b-series it has to b spaced about 3/16 out and notched on the top hole to rotate the starter down to turn it over.
I used a hydro gsr tranny in my crx with hasport tranny mount to put the tranny in the correct location so i could use stock DA axles.I have cut and welded shift linkage and hasport hydro to cable.The drivers side motor mount had to be made about a inch longer as the tranny moves the motor closer to the passenger side.I made 5 passes sunday with the new motor and tranny and it shifted perfectly and ran a new best of 10.3@150 even with ignition problems all day.Ill try to get some pics up they r not the greatest from my phone and i never took any of the bell housing where we welded it up and drilled and tapped it.

 

dude so awesome! how did you go about lining the trans up perfect so that your input shaft bearing doesnt take a beating?

 

^^^^that was one of my concerns. Do any of the dowel pins line up correctly?

 

No dowels yet its all gonna come back apart this winter i just wanted to see if it worked i used the input shaft with the flywheel on the motor and line it up with the clutch discs and pilot bearing.I just kept pulling the input shaft out and putting it back in to make sure it slid in and out with out binding up.The tranny doesnt make any weird nosies and i probably turned the motor over by hand and with the started a thousand times before i put it in the car to test it.

in for the pics. i have wanted to do this for a while, but never thought of making it bolt up without a plate. does a b series clutch bolt up to a d series flywheel or was there some drilling and taping going on there too?

Big props to you for ingenuity! I dont like the d series gearing so that may be an option as there are so many options for the B series trans. Thanks!
