So some one tried to steal my car the other night from out side my house, sliced my top to get in stole my ecu and broke a few misc peices..
so my question is now what.. replace the soft top or buy a hard top.. i love the thought of both, the soft top is nice from drop top days (although with winter coming up in nc) a hard top is pretty baller and there are non of them around here.. i found a oem one local for 1400 bucks.. complete and painted..
let me know what u guys think about eihter .. pro or con
ohh the only reason my car is still here is bc of kill switches and my dad whos a fed had to fun to his truck to get summin and saw um drive off as he came out.. im still suprised they didnt notice 2 unmarked suburbans in the drive way...

I would replace the softop myself. Then get a hardtop. lol
1400$ for a hardtop already painted your car color WITH hardware is a super super good price and I would jump on it asap. Sounds fishy to me though...

i'm in a similar situation myself and weighing my options as well.
the top on my MY03 has 3 rips from the usual suspects (rubbing on the frame) and i'm contemplating between a hardtop and a soft top.
if i was going to just replace the soft top, should i use OEM or Robbins? i understand that the OEM is vinyl, whereas robbins top uses cloth/canvas. any advantages/disadvantages between the two? which one would last longer? which is more fade resistant? anyone with a robbins top want to share their experience?
as for the hard top, mugen/mugen replica looks badass. however, the glass window is tiny and there's no option for the rear defroster, which would certainly come in handy for winter mornings. should i just go OEM, or is the visibility OK for mugen tops?
thanks

Hardtop
I own one and I never, ever take it off. Topdown got old to me. Plus, like you stated, a hardtopped S are hard to come by around your area so mad props to you. Changes the whole look and feel of the HT. Plus it is much quieter in the cabin vs the softtop. Oh and HT gives you security because it cannot be slashed.

Go with a softtop. And consider the blue OE one, depending on your car color. Remember, the install on the softtop is a bitch.
Go with an insurance claim on this one. The top is $1000, and the install by a Honda dealer is about the same.

That a good price for an OEM, even if it doesn't include the hardware. A HT will be useful in the winter months. when the summer rolls around, just take the top off and leave it in a storage room. That way you can have the best of both worlds.
