transmission help!!!

Default transmission help!!!

i wanted to rebuild my transmission on my 91 crx dx but i cant seem to seperate the transaxle case from the flywheel housing.i already removed the bolts that hold them together but the but the case only comes off about a half inch or so.anyone ever run into this?

Find the large 'screw' in the case that uses a 3/8" drive to remove it.
You can see it just to the right of the axle opening in this pic.

There is a C clip in there that snaps around one of the bearings on the main shaft.
This is what is holding the case together.

You need to pry the clip open while gently opening the case.
I put a couple large screwdrivers between the case halves to provide tension while I work on the C clip.
The C clip is best opened with the proper tool

but it can be done with a couple small flathead drivers. Beware that screwdriver method can really tear up the threads... best to get the proper tool.

BTW - if you want a honda service manual I don't need mine anymore.
