Mussulman power mod needed
hi guys and gals
i have 91 civic lx. automatic trannie, 180 000 miles, 1.5 engine, DPFI one.
she's been a great car so far, except that i live in seattle area, and going uphill is a challenge, and hills everywhere.
she does not take/burn oil or smoke, so i assume rings are good. i contribute lack of uphill power mostly to weak engine and automatic trannie. on level, she's a good goer and gives me very nice 34-36mpg.
so, i am looking for a frugal power mod to be less embarrassed uphilling.
i am very hesitant to do CAI, as i had that done on CRV and it dropped mpg 10% solid.
also, i do not want to have continuous gripe from mi esposa that i am dumping $$ into piece of junk.

any suggestions on what i can do with moderate $$? major tuneup is already done, plugs, wires, cleaners, filter, etc. running on K&N air filter.
thank you.

Cut a hole in the floorboard and Flintstone it, you'll be much faster.
You can swap a MPFI manifold that'll give you a couple more horsepower. Or a mini me or something

well, that was helpful
what is mpfi mini me?
to do auto to manual flip, i'd rather get low mileage OEM engine from japan, will cost less.
manifold swap means new fuel supply system/throttle body and ECM, right?
yeah, just googled it.

thanks, but no, thanks. like i said - a new engine is less than all that hassle.
hey, flintstone man - i'll cut the hole, will you send me your foot?

MPFI is a requirement anyways, you're still going to have to do it, even if you swap in another engine.
Unless you want that new engine to run on two injectors which will lower the horsepower and torque of the engine significantly, which is pretty much worthless and a waste of money.

(FREEBIE MOD)Take off the d shaped cover on the intake. Then remove the metal restricter plate, the screen and the first choke plate. Make sure to use a magnet with the 2 screws.
I would do a auto to manual conversion 5 speed of course.

MPFI swap will cost you $100~$150 (ECU, intake manifold, distributor)
Downside in your case is that you want to keep the auto tranny.
This limits you to the EX sedan ECU - I am not aware of any other ECU that runs an auto tranny and MPFI.
Auto to manual could cost you about the same (tranny, linkage, ECU)
$300.
