Does anybody else have a problem with their 3rd gear sticking? If so, please let me know what is causing it and what you did to fix it.

like grinding, ? replace fluid... gm syncromesh or royalpurple syncromax

 

I have a similar 3rd gear issue, it grinds or doesn't fully go into gear every now and then... I replaced my fluid with acura tranny fluid with only slightly better results...

What fluid should I use to help this situation? What is the difference between royalpurple and gm syncromesh and all the others for this issue? Thanks -

BTW: 03' Type S only 60k

 

preferance is about it when it comes to royal purple and gm those are what honda has been using to fix these problems for a while now. so go to a gm dealer get 3 quarts to be safe or go to somewhere that carries royal purple and get three quarts.

take it to the dealer there is a TSB for those tranny. see what they say about it.

 

honda MTF works well also

 

no it dosent... lol... they tried to reenginer it again, but failed again... most stealerships use gm syncromesh now.

 

TSB is only for the 02-04 DC5 not the EP3

 

i have always used it and never had any problems...before that i used Pennzoil syncromesh with great success as well

 

pennzoil makes gm syncromesh hense why you had great success, its the same stuff different bottle
