i barely bought my car and i really don't know what it has in it.
what would be a good way to find out if it has aftermarket cams...
the vtec is not kicking in but it feels like it pulls very nicely...
at around 4500 hundred rpms...
the motor is a b16 head with a gsr block.

If it didn't have cams it wouldn't be running....
Seriously pull the valve cover off and look at the rings. Search H-T for "what cams are these" and compare.

My bad about my language but dude just seems like he's trying to be a dick... I am asking questions for a reason...
I understand he knows what he's talking about but I don't need him talking to me like that...
So whatever I'll pull off the valve cover I just haven't had the chance to do it...

By driving it? Me Personally, and that's probably because i'm in and out so many stock and Built B-series motors, I could tell that "something" is better in a motor..to be able to tell if it's the cams exactly? No, you'd have to yank off the cover and look..
And this is just me though, If Vtec pops abnormally HARD and the pull is insane in comparison to a stocker..yea, i'll admit, first thing that comes to mind is a lumpy cam in there waiting to commit some ultimate rapage...

i'm going to pull off the valve cover tomorrow and check it out...
the only reason i think that the motor is not stock is because the car pulls pretty good...
but there is no vtec...
which i'm getting checked out tomorrow...
If you take pics and post them it will likely end up like every other 'what cams are these' threads. Nobody knows unless they have been stamped by the manufacturer and even then they could have been reground. The only way to tell is to plot them and compare them but very, very few people know how to do that.
first of all... is this your first car you had that has a vtec engine? have you ever drove a car that has a vtec engine? is your check engine light coming on? if the head is stock the vtec shouldnt kick real hard, it should have a smooth transition into vtec engagement. if that car had after market cams without a tuned ecu it would run like ****. so i doubt you have aftermarket cams. is there any way you can find out from the previous owner what he had done to the engine??

But this one has stock intake, dc headers, and stock exhaust... I know that I wouldn't be able to hear it loud but I should Still be able to tell... The car sounds like an ls... But is pretty quick... It has a lot of torque but it feels like the power dies out around 7 thousand... And The car starts to shake... Struggling to hit 8 thousand rpm's...
I hit up the dude that sold it to me and he says that he knows nothing about the motor... And that he has not put work into it either... Cuz dude the car is bone stock but it pulls like a champ... I even took off the intake box to see if it popped and nothing...

so i guess the CEL is not coming on. it could be something as simple as vtec oil pressure switch not working properly. or the solenoid itself. maybe a bad ground. or a clogged orifice. lots of variables. if i was you and knew the vtec was not working i would have somebody look at it for you that knows how to diagnose hondas. good luck
