Default Oil smell coming from cockpit???

I just rebuilt my motor 20,000 miles ago with Spoon Sports JDM ITR Pistons (Stock Bore) and I use Redline 5w-30 oil. I burn about 1 quart every other day. I drive 39 miles to work and back and I have the JDM Final Drive, so I am in the higher RPM's on the highway. Where could this smell be coming from? I haven't done a CLT or taken off the intake to see if there is oil in the TB yet. Has anyone else had this problem? Any help on the matter would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

That is correct, + or - 20 miles. I will get CLT test done this week. Any suggestions on what else to check?

I would have to imagine that you are also blowing lots of blue smoke from your exhausr during hard acceleration. If so, sounds like your piston rings are shot. It maybe time for a rebuild . You'll have to overbore the cylinders and get new rings and pistons.
It will be expensive.....

considering a stock bore i would think it may be the piston rings as well.

Keep in mind that Redline oil burn at an alarming rate compare to other oil. Try Mobil 1 or anyother synthetic oil at your next oil change and see if it solves a part of the problem.

He's burning a quart every 200 miles. He needs to do more than just change oil.

MugenRacer: Wow!!! Just replacing the PVC Valve fixed it? Are you serious? That actually could be my problem. I am going to try that tonight. I hope that works.

I did say "solve part of the problem". A falty PVC valve or busted oil rings could be the other parts of the problem (but there is no need for me to repeat what other people have said)

CLT test is th eonly way to find out why your burning oil, it could be as simple as a bad PCV system. I was burning 1 quart every oil change. Did a CLT test and compression in every cylinder was over 300 psi....and leakdown test showed nothing.

sorry i meant i had the problem with the smell of burning oil in the car, changing the pcv valve cured that, but i wasnt burning oil, well not a quart every 200miles, more like a quart every 2-3k. I had the oil/comp rings plus all head seal/gaskets replaced to cure that. But changing the pcv valve did cure the smell in cockpit problem. I had the rings and head work done only a month or so back, i changed the pcv valve about 10 months ago.
