What periodic tuning does an ITR engine need if used aggressively (autox, track, street)?
What kind of periodic engine tuning is necessary for aggressive ITR use (track once a month, autox regularly and street driving)?
Timing? spark plugs? valves? anything?
Thanks!
Ron

Just change the engine oil frequently. Ignition Wires/Spark Plugs every 7,000-10,000 miles, Fuel filters every 15,000mi, do valve adjustments if VTEC makes clicking noise. Timing can be check while you are doing a major tune up. Other than the above, ITR holds up fine for your tasks, maybe a stiffer engine mount and insert will also help.
I would be more concentrated on the wear of brakes/tires and routinely bleed the brake fluid and the clutch.

i haven't changed my fuel filter in over 200k......120k with a stolen type r engine in it!
If it can break, burn, leak or work out of adjustment check it.

Depending Strongly on just how much abuse the car gets, you may be able to follow a modified Stock Manufacturers suggested maintenance schedule.
I do...

The only thing I fear is timing belt failure. Precaution wise, keep a close eye on your oil level and cleanliness. Clean oil is good oil...change it often vs buy expensive oil and change it less....if you can afford to change it often and buy expensive oil, more power to you.
dont forget the Tranny..
