i need to know whether or not my tcm (transmission control module) could be affecting random lights popping up on my dashboard...for an example last night the light that indicated that my doors and trunk are open was on with all the doors shut...i know this is an electrical problem but will a new TCM replacement solve this problem.

someone please help me out...im at my witts end with this car and have only had it for 3 weeks...my vehicle is a 1991 honda accord lx

Why would a transmission control unit affect your doors?

The ECU might but you probably have other issues.

 

can the tcm effect any indicator lights?

 

park light, reverse light, neutral light, D4, D3... i can't think of any other relation between dash lighting and TCM than these. unless you have bare wires under the dash that sometimes make contact... the TCM isn't the cause.

 

ok thank you...what do you think could be effecting the other lights, for example the light that shows that all doors are open and also the green S light that indicates sports mode...this car is so confusing...people keep telling me different things.

 

my recommendation, if you don't own one already, get a factory service manual. the Helms is best in my opinion, though a little pricier than others, it's well worth it. this will give you a clear step-by-step chart for how to troubleshoot these types of problems.

you'll find uncommon electrical problems are very hard to blindly troubleshoot over the internet...
