Icon6 B-series trans casing ?

I was wondering if anyone knows if all of the bseries transmission cases are the same. I not long ago rebuild my gsr trans with all h23 internals which where the same. So if I take a 94 ls trans casing would I be able to install type-r internals or b16? Has anyone tried that?

92 and newer transmissions can have internals swapped out between the two whether they be cable or hydraulic. 91 and older transmissions used a different mainshaft spline which is why they also use different clutches and also can't be swapped into 92 and newer casings.

Another difference between the two are that the 92 and up have 3 rods from the shift forks that contact the bottom of the transmission while the older ones only have 2

ok thanks for the reply. I am aware about the mainshaft being diffrent. In any case I still learned something new from you. So since the internals can be swapped between the diffrent transmissions as you specified, is there any thing I should look out for to be diffrent. I ask because I read a thread while researching and someone said something about bearings and/or shims needed to be changed and/or removed.

I have seen rebuild kits from companies that have synchro kits that say are meant for only a a1 or j1. I tried using synchros from my a1 in my y1 transmission along with the sleeves and it worked really well. I also didn't see any physical differences from them.

Here is a site where you can see what parts may be different from others. http://shop.synchrotech-transmission...4?categoryId=2

I also tried out the bearings from my a1 and not sure as to what shims I used since I mixed them up lol. I'm not sure if the shims wear down that much, but it'd be a good idea to replace them if you have the transmission open along with bearings.

Hope this helps
