if your car isnt lowered,or if it is jack it up, get on the floor but not underneath and have some one rev the engine and try to look to see where its coming from. ****WARNING: READ VERY CAREFULLY**** if it has not been turned on in a LONG time and the engine is still cold then its ok to lightly touch your exhaust but it will only be okay to touch for the most one or two minutes after it has been turned on and if its been revved alot then just one minute. If you are going to touch near the exhaust manifold just dont do it at all. And about the heat shield a quick fix may be to get some metal wire, i forget the actaul name of it, and wrap that around your resonator, and again only do this when the exhaust is cold.

you can just get rid of it. they all come loose at some point. even faster in the northern states. if you want you could bring it to a muffler shop and spot weld it back on.
