Default Interesting ABS Light issue

Since I've had my '92 Prelude (about 2 years), the ABS light has come on after about 5 km/hr. At first, I thought this was to tell me that ABS was working...until one day, I tried to rush a light at a bridge and slid right through...stopping just at the sidewalk on the other side (the only thing between me and the guardrail). I guessed at that point ABS light ON = BAD.

This week though, the light comes on when the key is turned on, but once the car is started, it stays off. I thought maybe this was a sign that whatever was stuck or dirty is finally freed/clean, but when I tested the brakes on the wet pavement, one of the wheels locked up and skidded.

Does that make any sense? One thing I did notice is there's a little squeal when I back-up now...as if metal is pressing against the rotor on the driver side front...but when I give enough pressure on the breaks, the squeal stops. Haven't pulled the wheel off yet to take a peak, but just thought I'd ask if anyone has any advice.

Thanks,
Noizi

The noise sounds like your pads are running thin. There's no telling on the ABS since the code wasn't pulled.
