Spider Gears In ITR LSD
So I just busted the Spider Gears in my ITR transmission, The LSD specifically. Of course honda has outrageous prices for the rebuild on it. Does any one kno of a company anywhere in the world that has an inexpensive spider gears for it? Thanks to who help its a tough one.
well i kno i have a lsd for sure. The guy thats doing the tranny said i broke the spider gears in the lsd.(ive been havin problems with it). I called acura to ask how much spider gears are for the type r diff and he quoted me 380?
again a ITR helical diff has no spider gears, a open diff uses spider gears, there are clutch pack style LSD that use spiders but i dont know if they came in a ITR every ITR i have owned was helical and thus had no spider gears. i would just get a used one or a OBX if your to low on cash to get a mfactory.
ok i feel you, maybe they look like it or somethin to the dude, but do you kno of any where i can get the inner pieces to it? i dont wanna spend 400 on an obx lsd. i already spent 1200 for the tranny and i would like to rebuild the diff if possible.
nope acura is your only option if your dead set on trying to fix it, however if you broke it once you will break it again, might as well go stronger. I am not sure how people break ITR diffs, i put over 500 hp threw mine countless passes down the track and so far its lasted 2 years. as for looking like a spider gear, if its a helical style then they arent even close a spider gear looks like a top with gear teeth around it, a helical diff uses screw type shafts. i mean they cant look more different. but all that aside go on ebay or look around on forums and just buy a used diff, heck i have a mint GSR diff id sell yah cheap, yeah its a open diff but its the strongest of all open diffs and a bunch of guys on here run them and run 11s and 10s no problems.
****... i guess those are my options. my type r has been downtown for a couple months and my backup tranny is just not doin it anymore for me so i want my lsd tranny back. i really do feel the difference with it and think it is absolutly essential for off the line. but in ur opinion is it worth it cuz i just looked on ebay at the lsds and theres a jdm ek9 lsd diff for 370 shipped plus the 100 or so i give to the guy to install it, or just throw in a open diff and spend the money elsewhere in nitrous or cams or somethin like that? (motors already fast haha)
ps thanks for the help... its hard to find it nowadays.

the biggest thing your feeling is the ITR gearing , its great for NA cars, if the tranny your using now is a GSR or LS ect its taller and wont pull as hard. i would rather take a ITR tranny in a NA car with a open diff then a taller geared tranny with a LSD any day.
