ok to use copper spray or indian head?
i had the machine shop check my blocks deck for flatness while it was getting bored, they said its fine, but i noticed a few scratches on the deck/cyl that look like something was lightly drug across the deck at some point in its life. i used a roloc disk on the entire deck and you can barely catch your nail on the scratches but i wondered if the OEM head gasket alone will be enough to conform or fill in any small scratches , does any one know if copper spray or indian head would help even more then using the gasket alone? or must teh OEM gaskets be installed dry? thanks guys
yeah i always use a light roloc disk to clean the surface. i dont grind into it or gouge it lol just clean off any surface debris.
so its ok to spray both sides of the gasket ? or should i just spray the deck side ? thanks guys
oh and like i stated above i always use teh brown 3m disk and just go over it real light to clean off any surface debris.

I wouldnt use copper spray on a MLS gasket. The main thing is that your surfaces are flat and smooth because MLS gaskets are pretty picky about that.

I just use prep solv and nothing else make sure its clean and just torque the head down. Nothing inbetween. Imagine this 1 thou can screw up the seal on the head gasket imagine how good you are at spraying a coat of copper seal!
i already had it to the machine shop to get checked and bored they said the deck was fine and didnt need touched, however i see a few small scratches now that its back home. so to be extra safe i figured some copper spray would assure they get filled. just wasnt sure if the OEM style HG was ok to spray. i know composite head gaskets are much better at filling it scratches.
ive used light roloc discs on heads and blocks never had problems. some people think its stupid but they prob color cordinate their panties too.
We use these to clean up aluminum surfaces( the green one )

We also use copper spray and never had an issue, I talk to Earl before and he said it was just reinsurance.

i use copper spray on turbo gaskets and exhaust manifold gaskets sometimes. i have noticed no difference using it on a head gaskets other than it takes a lot longer to clean everything the next time you pull the head off
well my main concern is a few scratches i see. had i seen non i would just stuck it on dry like i have always done. but i was told copper is great for filling in small scratches.
