Default Help! Tire Size 99 Accord...

I've got a 99 Accord EX....stock wheels, stock 205/65/15 tires. Really low on money and ran across an awesome deal on set of 215/70/15 tires. Anybody know if these will work?
Thanks!

Actually, the stock tire size is 195/65/15. Those tires you're looking at are roughly 7% too large which is beyond the realm of safety. You'll want to keep the tires within 1% of stock overall diameter.

you have a V6 then. 4cylinders use 195/65

why are you asking this question? are you getting these tires for free? cus i would just buy the recommended size of 205/65 or even just find some good used EX coupe wheels in 16" 205/6016

at stock height they will work but will appear very big and your speedometer will be running 5% too slow.

they are one size too wide and one size too tall.

You didn't specify V6 or not.

There were four different versions of the 1999 Accord EX sold. Here is the stock tire size for each:

1999 Accord Coupe EX 4-cyl - 195/65-15
1999 Accord Coupe EX V6 - 205/60-16
1999 Accord Sedan EX - 195/65-15
1999 Accord Sedan EX V6 - 205/65-15

Even if you have a V6 sedan, 215/70-15 is still too big. That size is 5.3 percent (almost an inch and a half) larger in diameter than 205/65-15. They will probably rub on the wheel wells in turns, which of course is not good for the tire and can lead to tire failure. And risking a shredded tire isn't worth a bargain price.

There are lots of tires in all price ranges, and you can get some very good tires in the right size for your car without paying a fortune. For example, the Kumho ASX is a very good all-season tire, and in 205/65-15 it's $60/tire at the Tire Rack - a very good price indeed.

For that price, you can't go wrong with the ASX. The next closest tire in price and performance is the Continental ContiExtremeContact and they're $74 each.
