Default Help needed with sanding primer

Hello all,

Im a completely stripping and painting a del sol. I am however having some real issues with primer! I know that i have to sand it back so that its really smooth (but not too smooth the paint wont stick) so im finishing up with 800 grit paper. The problem i have is that i want to remove the 'dimples' and tiny holes so i have a glass like finish, but i keep sanding through the primer (i am using a guide coat!) and it leaves darker patches (please see attached pictures).

What im asking is, is that acceptable and will it show through the paint (which is the bright green on the mazda 2). I really need somone who knows as otherwise im going to have to re primer virtually everything i have done!

I am worried that the paint will come out patchy! (but smooth!)

*edit* i thought i would add that i am using 2k paint that requires laquer as well, so not a gloss type.

Thanks. Also, if it will make a difference, how the hell do people do this!

THe pictures make it look better than it is, the patches are darker.

I always sand primer for base/clear with 400 or 500 (depend what brand)
For polyurethane paint I sand with 320.
For small hole and scratch I fill with mini potty and a apply with a razor blade, its in tube and and you can buy it where you buy your other body product.

And I suggest to you to dont use laquer paint cause it crap and you will have a ton of reaction with undercoat

it looks to me that it might be the old color coming through. how many coats of primer did u apply? i would shoot the dark areas with another coat, wet sand down with 500 and call it good to go.

I don't think that is necessary to apply another coat ..
some people think that you have to apply primer on all the surface , isn' true

you only have to prime the '' repaired '' area

to awnser to the OP question , I don't think that theses darker area will appear in the paint . it looks to be very tiny so .. but seeing the car in real is always better
