2000 Civic Maintenance Help
Hey guys, so my car has been in pure stock form for 9 years now. and only oil changes have been made in terms of maintenance (As per the last owner). Now the car was bought at 73321.8 miles and it still is around that number. The car is giving me bad mileage and it couldn't even give me 350 miles on a full tank. Can anyone help me out and let me know what kind of maintenance would help increase my mileage back to its original standards? help is appreciated!
Well I don't know what has been done to it in the past or recently but I would go with;
Spark Plug's (NGK's)
Cap and Rotor
Air Filter
maybe Spark plug wire
PCV Valve
Oil and filter change
If you really wanted to go all out do a top engine clean on it, Usually Honda's are pretty good about not building up to much carbon up top but it couldn't hurt.

at that mileage you should also do a timing belt and water pump.
i don't see why you're upset with your fuel mileage though.
brand new they are rated at 26mpg city and 31mpg highway, with an 11.9 gallon fuel tank.
hypothetically for city you should expect to see about 310 miles out of your tank, if you were to run it from completely full, to completely out of gas.
Now, if you were driving 100% highway mileage, under the same conditions of running it until you are on the phone with AAA begging them to bring you gas, you should only expect about 369 miles to the tank.
my girlfriends 00 EM1 usually does about 275-285 miles to the tank, and usually takes between 8.5 to 9.5 gallons to fill it.
