I have a 99 honda civic lx automatic that i just completed a b16a2 engine swap and 5 speed conversion....i used the si engine harness so i would not have to wire in the knock sensor and vtec or change the iacv sensors. Just plan on hard wiring the secondary o2 sensor. The car runs really good and pulls hard. It has a megan racing header, test pipe, cat back exhaust, walbro fuel pump and fujita cold air intake....my only concern is that the car pulls hard and engine runs smooth but when i take off the car kind of sounds like a subaru but not as deeps of a sound and at high rpm's it sounds normal, espically when vtec kicks in. I have not changed the spark plugs or wires and the timing has never been messed with and i know the car is not running on 3 cylinders. What could be the cause of this? Maybe the exhaust system or the plugs and wires or a bad injector? I don't know the history of the engine so I am not for sure if it has different cams in it or not but the motor only has 70,000 miles on it...Please give any advice that you can. Thanks.
if the car runs really good and pulls hard...there's not a problem. Don't worry about how it sounds. If it sounds deep like a subaru then you are lucky. If there was a problem it would run like crap and not pull worth crap. i'd say leave it, be happy, and go on with your new swapped honda.
